Last fall, Dr. Lisa Ballance took the helm as the new director of the Marine Mammal Institute (MMI) at Oregon State University. Ballance succeeded Bruce Mate, who retired after serving as director of MMI since its inception in 2006. OSU’s College of Agricultural Sciences is the academic home of the institute.
