Student Spotlight: Jimena Anguiano- Cisneros

By Rachel Jones

T

his summer,  Agricultural Sciences major Jimena Anguiano-Cisneros grew her expertise in research as part of an NSF REU internship with the Busby Lab in the Department of Botany and Plant Pathology. Under the mentorship of Dr. James Myers from the Department of Horticulture, Jimena explored the phenotypic traits of tomatoes—specifically focusing on populations of ISR (induced systemic resistance) tomatoes.

This opportunity has paved a path of experience that will come in handy for the future,” Jimena shared.

Her work collecting and managing tomato data is not just about plants—it’s about understanding the future of sustainable agriculture. Through this research, Jimena gained firsthand insight into how organic farms operate and how the products we rely on are grown.

We are proud to celebrate Jimena’s contributions to agricultural sciences and can’t wait to see where her research journey leads next!
